Hall of Fame coach Darren Arbet and his 200th Win

Hall of Fame coach Darren Arbet added another milestone to one of arena football’s most accomplished careers this weekend, recording his 200th career professional indoor football victory while leading the Nashville Kats past the Minnesota Monsters 58-28 on Friday night at Amsoil Arena in Duluth, Minn.
Arbet, a four-time ArenaBowl champion and longtime architect of the old San Jose SaberCats dynasty, has become one of the defining figures in the modern history of the arena/indoor game.
The milestone adds another chapter to a coaching résumé that already included four league championships, two AFL Coach of the Year awards and induction into the Arena Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
Arbet entered the 2026 season with a combined 195-87 regular-season and postseason record, trailing only legendary coach Tim Marcum on the all-time indoor football wins list.
Former NFL coach and Kats executive Jeff Fisher praised Arbet’s long-term influence on the sport when Nashville hired him before the 2025 season.
“It’s the understanding of everything that is required from A to Z to putting a winning team on the field and how to build and sustain a winning franchise,” Fisher said of Arbet's work in the 50-yard game.
Arbet first rose to national prominence after taking over the SaberCats in 1999, eventually building one of arena football’s great dynasties. His San Jose teams won league championships in 2002, 2004, 2007 and 2015.
His 2002 championship also carried historic significance. Arbet became the first Black head coach to win a North American professional football championship when San Jose defeated the Arizona Rattlers in ArenaBowl XVI.
